Accident Reports

The information contained in this section is according to RCW 46.52.080 and RCW 46.52.083.

Accident reports are considered confidential and not subject to release except by RCW 46.52.080 and RCW 46.52.083.

Eligibility & Access

To individuals having "proper interest." Proper interest is defined as the driver or drivers involved, or the legal guardian thereof, the parent of the minor driver, any person injured therein, the owner of vehicles or property damaged thereby, the attorney or insurer, or any authorized representative of such an interested person.

Releasable Information

Names of persons reported as involved in the accident, vehicle descriptions, date, time, and location of the incident.

Exempt

Signed driver's statement RCW 46.52.083. Toxicology results from persons killed in traffic accidents may be disseminated to non-law enforcement entities only upon court order. Toxicology, BAC, or PBT arising from a traffic arrest may be disseminated to the person subject to the test and/or his/her attorney (with a letter of proof of attorney-client relationship). Considerations

If a juvenile has been charged with or is under investigation for a criminal offense, his or her name and all information that might tend to identify him/her or his/her family must be deleted.

A $10 fee may be assessed for a copy of the accident report.

Washington State Law strictly limits public disclosure of all Level I Registered Sex Offender information.

Information shall be shared with other law enforcement agencies, and, upon request, relevant, necessary, and accurate information may be disclosed to any victim or witness to the offense and to any individual community member who lives near the residence where the offender resides, expects to reside, or is regularly found. Level I offenders May Not be the subject of general public notification.
